Candace Navickas - What Have You Been Up To? Well, what can I say life is good! In 1985 I moved to Scottsdale AZ. and started college at A.S.U. And worked part time at America West Airlines, which was around the corner from campus in Tempe. Part time turned into 70 plus hours a week and I simply was having way too much fun traveling and working for the airlines. I dropped out of college about a year later; do to the heavy traveling and the awesome perks with AWA. I've been to some of the most beautiful Countries, Cities and Islands in this World. This was a very exciting job.I got married in 1986. We had the opportunity to move back to California in 1996. I quit my job and moved to northern California where I live now. I then became a full-time travel agent We live in Roseville, California, in the Sacramento area. I'm about an hour between Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, San Francisco and Stenson Beach. So we get away locally very quickly to a lot of fun places. Folsom Lake is only 10 minutes away and its great fun too.. I feel like the luckiest woman alive. My wonderful husband my prince charming, love my life gave me what I call a Cinderella wedding, it was so beautiful! We took off for two weeks on our honeymoon to travel all over Europe. We bought and built a beautiful home in Roseville to raise our children in. As soon as I became pregnant with our third child I needed to slow down, so I quit working. Now I'm happy to say I'm a stay home mother and proud of it! We have three beautiful children Judith (15), Katherine (10), and Charles II (5). My oldest daughter Judy is an honor student and now attends Woodcreek High. Judy plays soccer and she loves to read a lot and plays the piano too. She also became a certified scuba diver in 2001. We got a chance to dive and parasail together in Cozumel, two Christmas' ago. It was a very cool experience. Katherine is my second daughter and is an honor student as well. She is very outgoing and is our social butterfly. Katherine has been cheering for Woodcreek going on 3 yrs now. This season she has placed in several competitions and the last one was a state competition and they placed 1st. She'll now compete at Disneyland 2/22/04 on ESPN for another competition. I'm so very proud! Our third child is our son Charles. After two girls it's so cool to have a boy. Holly- cow what a difference thou. He's our nonstop talker and moving machine! He loves the computer and video games, he must take after his father, H.P. look out! But he truly is a Thomas Train fanatic and Lego genius. Bland my husband is an excellent husband, father and friend. Bland's a manager for Hewlett Packard here in Roseville and works very hard. He knows the computers so well it's scary. He loves to build things for our home; he is very handy and smart and he can fix almost anything. Sometimes family and friends call him MacGyver for fun. His pride and joy thou has been rebuilding his 1964 ½ ford mustang with NAS and all. It's even to fast for me to drive. Our family loves to travel. Bland and I both got certified to scuba dive at the Grand Lido San Souci in Jamaica 5yrs ago on one of our get a ways. Since then we've dove in Cozumel, Cancun, and The Grand Cayman Islands and now were taking off to Costa Rica in April for 7days to dive again. It will be a beautiful dive trip and I can't wait! We keep very busy with our all children schedules and working around our home with tons of hobbies and projects going constantly. We have six cats, a 95lb boxer, an iguana, hamster, fish and several birds that I have feeders for outside. Yes, I'm very much the cat lover! When were not doing any projects, hobbies or running with children somewhere, entertaining at our home is always in the schedule. I love to cook a lot for family and friends. Were always looking for an excuse to entertain for the kids or us. I like to volunteer my time at my children's schools as much as I can. And if I'm not doing that I'm on the go somewhere with someone or for someone or something all the time. For those who know me well, I don't sit much. But working in my garden is something I love to do for its very therapeutic and self-gratifying. And of course just laying by the pool soaking up some rays watching my children and their friends having a ball is the best, until they splash me on purpose, which is fun for them. After September 11th I was so sickened by the whole thing. I woke up and watched right as it happened I couldn't believe my eyes. My good friends husband is on the Sacramento Search and Rescue Team. He came home after 9/11 with some very disturbing pictures and stories. I WILL NEVER FORGET! Since then I have become very patriotic. The American flag is so beautiful to me. I'm on the look out for any unique flag item any given time; even my license plates say AMRWMN (American Woman) with the flag plates. So now I'm trying to get up the courage to get a very small and hidden flag tattoo on me, yikes! Maybe when I'm 40 so I'll have a midlife crisis excuse (ha, ha). Well, back to work. Can't wait to see so many of you and your families! Till then peace to you all, and see you at the reunion!
Diana Injijian Yarcan - Graduated in 1988 from UC Berkeley with a degree in Economic Development. Moved back down south to attend UCLA and obtain my MA in Islamic Studies. That's my life in a nutshell! Now am just keeping busy with the kids and helping out my husband in the business when I can.
Richard B. Traister (Blake) - I adventured for several years after High School. I got married, had our son (well, I looked stupid while my gorgeous wife gave birth to him) finished 2 years of college, planted a vineyard, owned (and lost) a business.
Alll of my years of hacking and phreaking (little known secret of mine back then) paid off with my career in network security and infrastructure management. My son has become quite the little hacker but wants to be an attorney (so he can keep me out of jail). My wife owns a small business that does everything from cutting kilos of rubies to making one custom anniversary ring (www.usjem.com).
We are usually found at an ice rink between San Diego and Santa Barbara on weekends driving our son to his games (he plays AA level hockey), but live and work in Pasadena. Our kids go to a private school just off Fair Oaks Ave (Waverly School) and my office is above J Crew in Old Town Pasadena.

Patty Lampert - While raising my son Andy, (now 20 and married)I lived with my folks for a while as I realized his Dad and I were not a match we moved to Washington St. Then to a small town on the Coast called Los Osos. I worked in sales, banks, retail, doctors, and hospitals, restaurants, anything to gain experience and make money. I finally moved in to management and out of my folks. My son got diabetes when he was seven, but is doing o.k.I dated and lived with an old Jr. High Sweetie for a few years (Dave Auten) but that did not work out. So on my own I ran a My Own Day Care so I could be home with my son, then became an Activities Director at a large Time Share Resort in Avila Beach. I liked my job very much as it tested all my skills. I had a full staff, I was in charge of purchasing, planning, catering, staffing very large events and tours some for adults, children, or the entire family. I was also in charge of keeping the Resort decorated. One day I was training someone and I collapsed and had a seizure. I found out I had epilepsy. I tried to work for a while but it was too hard, and then I had to stop driving. I kind of went through a tough time. I go to have treatment at Stanford and hope to one day be driving and working - maybe in Social Services. Now I hang out with my dog and work on getting well and enjoying life.

Christina Nielsson Martinez - Keeping up with a fast-paced world as a single parent of 3 wonderful children. In October of 1993 I had my first son, Zachary, as a single mom. A year later, I met Vince Martinez, an amazing man whom I married in 1996. We then moved to the Bay Area in 1997 after having our daughter, Sophia. In February of 1999 I gave birth to Isaiah, our son. The next life-altering event was Vince's sudden death in July of 1999. It was traumatic and devastating and threw my world into a tail-spin. It has taken a lot of work and dedication to develop an acceptance of our loss. These days, the kids and I are hanging tough and doing well under the circumstances. The road of grief takes us around in circles at times, but somehow we keep moving ahead. I was blessed with terrific children who are healthy, smart, funny, and very active. I love living in Benicia (Bay Area) - it's a beautiful, safe spot to raise kids and is a very family oriented community with excellent public schools (thank God). I work part-time now with animals and I love it. It's very demanding, but also very rewarding. My mom always said I should marry a zoo-keeper because of my love for animals - I think she might have been right! I hope to re-marry someday when the time is right and perhaps open my own business in the next couple of years. Oh yeah - still working on that four year degree, too!

Most of my past twenty years have involved school – I received my BA from Scripps College, my MA and PhD in International Relations at the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and taught at the University of Nevada, Reno while my husband was working at the Navy’s TOPGUN fighter pilot training school. While working on my PhD, I traveled a lot to attend UN environmental negotiations. Married, had three wonderful children (Randa-11, Wyatt-9, Camryn-7), catered and did wedding cakes (of some SPHS alum as well), lived in Virginia for a while… then divorced. I went back to school to finish my degree in Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Science, teaching cooking classes at Home Chef during that time and working my tail off with a year of Chemistry-ugh! I was such a better student at 32 then I was at 18!! Loved it. Now that is all behind me. I actually taught an ROP Culinary Arts class at SPHS for a short time and ended up in a great article in the LA Times, picture and all! I now have my dream job (Assistant Director of Food Services for Hacienda La Puente USD) and get to teach nutrition to kids as well. I have a great man in my life and my kids are my daily inspiration. We are San Gabriel residents (with several other SPHS alum); I do the PTA, coach soccer, choreograph my girls in the school talent shows, and still rollerblade (although I am not good at stopping!). Life is good. p.s. Big hugs to Christina Nielsson- I wish you would come to the reunion!

I’m looking forward to the reunion. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years.
